BREED

All our Heights Farm Beef is pure Black Angus. A breed that is well known for its tasty, tender meat. 

GOOD GENETICS

It all begins with good genetics. Blair puts his 20+ years of experience as both a farmer and a livestock agent, into selecting the Sires we use for breeding our stock.

We focus on buying on positive fat bulls which enables us to breed an animal that will have lots of intramuscular fat (also known as marbling) in the meat. This fat is the white "good fat" that you can visibly see running through the meat and is what gives our our products their delicious flavour. 

We purchase all our Angus Sire Bulls from Pine Park Angus Stud which is just a 45 minute drive away from our farm in the Rangitikei township of Marton. 

Along with having the positive fat attributes we are looking for, the Pine Park Bulls also have a lovely quiet nature which they pass on to their offspring. Having quiet, calm cattle is key to being able to work the animals easily without placing any extra stress on them.

100% GRASS FED

All of our cattle are 100% grass fed. From Spring to Autumn their days are spent roaming and grazing the lush fresh grass on our farm fields. In the winter months when the grass growth slows they are supplemented with cut grass products such as hay and silage. These are made on farm in the summer, when grass is in abundance. and are stored until the winter months.  

HEALTHY STOCK

All our animals have access to fresh water, shade and plenty of feed. We regularly bring the animals in for health checks as well as checking on them daily while they are out grazing to ensure they are all doing well. 

CONSISTENCY

We commit to consistently provide the finest quality meat from our farm to your family. In order to achieve this unwavering care of our animals is required everyday and is key to producing a premium meat product. All our animals selected for processing are hand picked by Blair, who uses his extensive farming knowledge to select only those stock that are prime for slaughter.
